Yesterday was the end of the 2010 Winter Olympics, now for those of you who are reading this and did not know that, this question I pose to you: "Where the hell were you?"
For hours on end CTV was flanked with heart warming stories, tributes, national images and of course Olympic events. I can say, like most of you that for these past two odd weeks I was consumed by it all. The events, the stories, and yes even the comericals! Tim Hortons (the nations caffine life support) had a marvelous comerical, that not only played on national pride but also on multi-culturalism, to Tim Horton's national marketing team I raise my T-Ho's cup to you. I truly think as a nation we are proud of our country and what we represent but to be able to present our pride and heart to the world was just the "hidden" loonie in the preverbal ice hockey rink!
We do have a lot to be proud of, not only our gold medals won but a plethora of other examples. Multi-Culturalism, Maple Syrup, Sydney Crosby, Our national parks, Canadian Music, Beer, Health Care, William Shatner, the hotness that is Ryan Reynolds, beaver tails, and many many more.
I'd love to wrap up all my feelings and emotions in one final paragraph of canadian symbolism but I'm must admit I'm not that eloquent. So I leave it like this
Sealed with a maple leaf kiss,
N.
